Geocache Description:

Cache is located near multiple dinosaur tracks(Sauropod and Theropods). Easy dirt road(NOT when wet), very short hike.

This is my first cache placed, and the first of several themed caches. If possible, please try to bring any of the following as an item swap: Something dinosaur related, something green, or some cash(ANY denomination, ANY nationality-dollars, pounds, rupees, drachmas, pesos, even Monopoly money-please leave all counterfeit money at home!!!)

To get near the cache site, head south on US 191 towards Moab, for approx. eight miles. Near milepost 149, there is a dirt road on the east side of the highway(turnoff located at N 38° 49.544' W 109° 46.923'). Go over the railroad tracks, and follow the signs to the parking area at N 38° 49.546' W 109° 46.880'. The road is generally very good but during dry weather ONLY (when wet, it's verrrry slick and muddy), except for the last 1/4 mile where some mudholes exist(There are obvious trails around the mudholes, so don't fret!). The road is also rutted the last 1/4 mile, so watch your speed. Road was driven on 8/2/01 in a '62 Ford Falcon, so your vehicle can make it!

Cache is a bright orange Tupperware style container. Themed contents are:

  • 1-Log Book 1-Custom CD, "Battlin' Dinosaurs: Lorne Greene Vs. Johnny Cash"
  • 3-Shards of fossil dino bone, perhaps torn free in the fierce struggle between these two "Gothic Western Music" behemoths.
I will visit the cache on a semi-regular basis and restock as necessary.
So, find the loot and judge for yourself: Who loses the battle? Johnny Cash? Lorne Greene? Your sanity? ***Edit: Visited cache on 8-11-01. Cache is still there and in good shape. ***Edit: Co-ordinates were W 109' 45.666. Rechecked Co-ords on 9-3-01 and got W 109' 45.723, much closer to what others have reported. Have edited coordinates to reflect correctly. Also, have placed new "Battlin' Dinosaurs" CD and added plastic dinos. Will add larger cache container next visit. ***Edit: Visited cache on 9-27-01. Replaced small orange tupperware container with a MUCH larger green storage container. Also added oodles of new goodies, mostly dinosaur related toys for the kiddies, green bath gel for the ladies, another CD for the musically insane, and some really BIG bucks-several hundred dollars worth! Also, took Hong Kong coin. Too cool to leave behind, ya know? Enjoy! This is my first cache placed, and the first of several themed caches.
