Ware the Weir - Redway Rambles Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

mafiu: Looks like the area directly behind the cache site has become a muggle hiding and drinking place - so as well as the cache going astray I dont really want to bring anyone here in the night incase they disturb the nocturnal population - so archiving this.

Geocache Description:

Redway Rambles

"The Redways form an extensive network of shared-use paths passing through all the beautiful parks, each and every estate, and into the city centre itself. They are for use by pedestrians and cyclists of all ages and levels of experience, including people with prams, pushchairs and those in wheelchairs."

As such, the Redways provide an ideal Geocaching highway!

The Parking for the cache is in Loughton (N 52° 01.773 W 000° 46.463) and the cache trail begins there. Of course, you could always park at the Knowhill Cricket Ground parking (N 52° 01.589 W 000° 46.304) as it is central to several other caches. If you do park there, just follow your GPS and the Redway – you won’t need to cross any roads.

Parents, the area is near a small Stream and a Weir. Please make sure to keep a watchful eye on any young children!

The four interlocking ‘Teardrop’ lakes in Knowhill form part of Milton Keyne’s water balancing system. Despite being close to the A5 and the train line through MK, the area provides an enjoyable lunch-time walk and is a haven for several species of birds including a pair of Swans that have been nesting here for quite some time.

Starting in the parking area, heads NW from the parking lot to a small bridge (N 52° 01.780 W 000° 46.452). How many slats does the bridge have? (The ones you walk on.)

Clue 1: AB

From here, head to the open grassy area (N 52° 01.765 W 000° 46.450). How many benches can you see?

Clue 2: C

Next, head to the Weir (N 52° 01.749 W 000° 46.400) along the path. How may concrete bollards can you see?

Clue 3: D

Next, how many life preserver type devices can you see?

Clue 4: E

You now have all the required clues. To calculate the location of the cache, use the above numbers in the following formula:

Final Location:

N52° 01.(D+C)(A)(AB/D-E) W00° 46.(A-E)(B)(AB/D-C)

You are searching for a 450ml (medium) clip-lock box.

Please be aware that, while the cache is not in the open, the area is used by muggles taking shortcuts from the road. Please take appropriate precautions when hunting for the cache!

And there you go! Good Luck and Happy Hunting!
