Geocache Description:

This cache is on private property.
Cachers have permission to enter to retrieve cache. It is a vacant lot at the end of a culdesac. Contact number if needed is 218 556 0109.
This is a ‘Kid-Friendly’ cache. While adults may enjoy it – it is specifically designed for children ages 3 -12 yrs. Landowner prefers caching to occur during daylight hours. Parking available at location.

Once upon a time and long, long ago, before houses and roads, travelers from the east coast ventured to the heart of Minnesota in search of wild rice and beaver pelts. The swamp the cache overlooks was once a larger body of water known as Grass Lake. The travelers came through the St Lawrence Seaway, up the chain of Great Lakes, and disembarked on the western shore of Lake Superior. From here they made their way on foot in search of the beaver pelts with which men’s top hats were made and in much demand in the big cities.
Grass Lake was the end of the line – from here the travelers made their way back to where they came from. Provisions for the return trip were stored in this wooden cache to sustain them.
Times change and civilization advances, yet the excitement and fond memories of opening the lid of a cache, continues on from generation to generation. May Your travels be sustained by this well stocked cache.
