Salinas Fire Station Three, opened in 1957, is home to the Division of Training. A prominent city landmark, the training tower at the rear of the station provides above-ground training opportunities for firefighters from Salinas as well as firefighters from surrounding jurisdictions. Paramedic Engine 5313 is housed at this location with a minimum staffing of one fire captain, one fire engineer, and one firefighter, one of whom is a paramedic. The crews at this station protect the Abbott Street business corridor, Monterey Park, Maple Park, and Industrial Acres. Paramedic Engine 5313 shares responsibility for protecting Highway 101 within the city limits with Paramedic Engine 5316 and south of the city limits with the Salinas Rural Fire Protection District. This engine company is outfitted with a complete set of hydraulic rescue tools (Jaws of Life).
