Geocache Description:

Deer Creek State Park was created when the Deer Creek Dam was constructed at the southern end in 1968. The cache itself is the extreme southernmost tip of land that reaches out into Deer Creek Lake.

The Deer Creek Dam caused Deer Creek to swell in all directions forming a beautiful resort lake in the central Ohio region. As the lake bends around to the left a natural peninsula was formed creating a long, narrow point that juts out into the lake.

To reach this beautiful place, enter Deer Creek State Park and drive almost all the way in to the lodge. Turn right as if going to the cabins and park at the nearest visitor parking lot to the cache site, which you'll find at N39-37.064 and W083-14.317. Walk past the Waterloo trailhead to the Adena Ridge trailhead, both of which are clearly marked. The trail leaves the road between two cabins.

It is a 0.4 mile walk on a level dirt trail from car to cache with waterfront scenery the entire way. There is no actual cache container hidden here anymore (because it's too hard to keep dry). Just go to the southernmost point on the peninsula, touch the water, and claim the cache. Due to the proximity to the water, which may ebb and flow with the seasons, the point may be wet or marshy. You need only go as far south as you are comfortable.

Due to the convenient parking, short walk and beautiful lake view in all directions, this cache is ideal for children. Dogs on leashes are welcome on this trail although bicycles are not. Pictures are welcomed, but are not required. Enjoy the view!
