Geocache Description:

This is a long(ish) multicache centred around Faversham in Kent, the ‘Market Town of Kings’. The cache has 2 main stages – a walk around Faversham town visiting some of the many interesting sites there, and gathering numbers which will be used to form the co-ordinates of the second part. Part 2 takes you on a walk to the final cache location, and gives you the opportunity to view some of the beautiful landscape around this part of Kent, as well as keeping an eye out for wildlife.

The published co-ordinates are for the recommended parking at the Front Brents car park. Parking is free and there is usually plenty of space.

The cache should take you around 3 hours to complete, and is roughly 4 miles long, depending on the order in which you complete the multi-cache stage. Part 2 of the cache is close to water so please be extra careful with children. The path can also get quite muddy, even during summer, so wear suitable footwear.

This cache also contains information about the co-ordinates for a Faversham Bonus Cache (not yet published). If you wish to find this bonus cache, make a note of the numbers/ letters you find in the final cache, and keep an eye out for our next cache!

The final cache is a small Decon container and only has room for the logbook and a couple of small swaps. At the time of placing the cache contained logbook, pen, mini FTF certificate, fridge magnet and 2 rubbers.

While you are in Faversham, please take the opportunity to wander around the rest of the town. There are many lovely pubs in which to eat and drink – the cache owners recommend The Albion, at the recommended parking co-ordinates (Mexican food – Ted recommends the ribs) and The Sun in West Street in the centre of town for ‘Huffkins’. When you find the final cache, if you continue along the footpath for a short distance you will also find the excellent Shipwright’s Arms (‘possibly the most remote pub in Kent?’), a good choice for something to eat after a windy walk.

One of the main attractions to Faversham is the Shepherd Neame brewery. If you have the time to spare while in Faversham, you can book tours of the brewery online at www.shepherd-neame.co.uk. We also suggest having a look at the excellent website www.faversham.org to find out all about the history of the places you’ll visit.

We have walked the cache and checked all the co-ordinates, but please let us know if you have trouble with any of them. Also please let us know if you think the difficulty rating is wrong! We used the scoring system and it came out higher than expected!
