The
first five KC area picnics were held on the Kansas side. Last
year it was held in Independence, Mo. The location this year
will be north of KC, just outside of Liberty.
There has
been many inquires about this years gathering so it’s time to post
the event. Now that we have a location, shelter and a menu it is
time to invite the folks. Last year we had approximately 130 in
attendance. Hope we can surpass 200 with all the new cachers that
have come on board this past year.
The Earnest
Shepherd Center is north of Liberty just off I-35 and M-33 and
north of the Hallmark Card Distribution Center. There is plenty of
parking available. Out of town guests are welcome to join us.
Liberty has a small campground park and hotels. The Smithville Lake
area is about 12 miles north with ample camping area. There are
many caches and other activities in the area to fill your
weekend.
The fun will
start approximately 4:00PM. Check in and mingle. We will eat around
5:30. We will be grilling some hot dogs but the main menu is
potluck. We invite everyone to bring meat, a side, or dessert dish,
drinks, ice or whatever satisfies your taste buds. No alcohol is
allowed.
This year there will be no charge, but we will gladly accept
donations to cover costs of the hot dogs, buns, the shelter and
picnic supplies.
We are asking our fellow cachers to join the committee to help set
up some activities for the young and old. We know that cachers in
the area have some creative minds by the interesting placed caches.
Let’s get the juices flowing. This is your picnic and your help
would be appreciated to make it a success.
