Geocache Description:

I’ve hidden this cache here as it is close to my overseas home. It's an easy flat walk from Ripley Green.

The village of Ripley is situated only one mile from the M25 motorway junction 10 and adjacent to the A3 London to Portsmouth road which was built to bypass the village. This has allowed Ripley to retain its rural atmosphere whilst providing excellent travel links to and from London and the South Coast.
This small village includes a sixteenth century coaching inn, The Talbot Hotel, which was frequented by Admiral Lord Nelson during his journeys to the coast. Ripley holds one of the largest bonfire parades in Surrey, on the last Saturday of October each year, when residents and visitors alike celebrate Bonfire night with a torchlit procession, huge bonfire and a stunning firework display. A large funfair fills the wonderful village green which is the heart of the village. Here, cricket has been played longer than at any other ground in the world and, it is said, the middle stump was introduced at Ripley by a local bowler who became tired of seeing his cricket ball fly between the two upright stumps that were used at the time. It is also the birthplace of famous guitarist Eric Clapton, and the resting place of his son. The village is mentioned in H. G. Wells' novels The War of the Worlds and The Wheels of Chance.
The hunt for the cache will take you from Ripley Green toward Ockham Mill (dated 1862). Terrain is easy-going, but at the time of hiding the cache, tree cover made an accurate reading very difficult. Suggested parking can be found under Additional Waypoints.

The cache is a camouflaged lock-n-lock box nestled in a fallen down tree. Please ensure that it remains well hidden.
