This cache as all about the Hinchingbrooke water tower.
Built in 1935 Hinchingbrooke water tower has stood for a good 72+ years, located on Brampton road, behind the Fire and Police headquarters. It is hidden from sight of the town and other residential areas due to the high-line of trees surrounding it. But is clearly visible if you travel along the A14 from junction 23 towards Cambridge and visa versa. The water tower nowadays has been had redundant and stands empty, also when it was in used the 1935's there was a reservoir which accompanied the tower, but since it has been dried up to make was for fields, houses and other buildings
On the 13 of April 2006 there were proposals for the water tower to be transformed in to office blocks. The £4m conversion was going to put a light house style glass offices on top of the 24m tall water tower. The proposal was turned down due to it being out of place with the locality.
Today the water tower that replaced the one on Brampton road can be found at tower fields, where the Huntingdon Ciniworld is located.
ALSO: In the hunts post on the 20th of june there was an article on the area, in which it says that the building work is for the viaduct to be demolished, additonal station car park and an new link road between brampton road and ermine street removing the need for a three quarter circuit of the ring road.
