Binnenalster Hamburg Multi-cache

Mein erster Multi-Geocache, platziert an einem der schönsten (dem schönsten ;-) Plätze in Hamburg: an der Binnenalster. Länge ca. 2,5 Km. Die genannten Koordinaten sind der Startpunkt. Es geht über vier Zwischenstationen bis zum Final. Alle Zahlen können direkt an den Stationen gefunden werden. Messen, googeln oder ähnliches ist nicht notwendig. Für den Erstfinder (Banjo HH) lagen 1000 $ im Cache ;-)

Die Binnenalster, die ca. 18 ha Fläche aufweist, ist der kleinere, südliche Teil des Alstersees. Sie wird von der Außenalster im Nordosten gespeist. Sie fließt in der südlichen Ecke über das Fleet Kleine Alster – hier erfolgt jetzt an der Rathausschleuse auch die Stauung – Richtung Elbe ab. In der Mitte der Binnenalster verankert, befindet sich seit 1987 die (von privaten Mäzenen finanzierte) bis zu 60 Meter Höhe speiende Alsterfontaine. Die dadurch verbundene Zufuhr von Luft-Sauerstoff hat inzwischen zu einer anerkannt deutlichen Verbesserung der Wasserqualität beigetragen. Rund um die Binnenalster liegen verschiedene Geschäftsgebäude, unter anderem der Firmensitz der Hapag-Lloyd AG, das Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, das traditionsreiche Kaufhaus Alsterhaus sowie der nicht minder berühmte Alsterpavillon. Neueste Attraktion ist seit Herbst 2006 die nicht unumstrittene Europa Passage. Am Südwestufer, dem Jungfernstieg, liegt die Hauptanlegestelle für die »Weiße Flotte« der Alsterdampfer, die von hier sowohl die Alster mit ihren Kanälen als auch die Hamburger Fleete befahren und bis nach Bergedorf verkehren. Privater Motorschiffs-Verkehr ist auf der Binnenalster, mit wenigen Ausnahmen, nicht zugelassen. Jährlich an einem verlängerten Wochenende Ende August fand rund um die Binnenalster seit 1976 das allseits beliebte »Alstervergnügen« auf den unmittelbar angrenzenden Straßen statt. Besonderer Höhepunkt war dabei seit 1994 das jeweils über drei Abende hin ausgetragene internationale Feuerwerkfestival, initiiert und bis zu seinem Tode moderiert von Carlheinz Hollmann.

My first multi-geocache, placed at one of the nicest locations in Hamburg: at the inner Alster lake. The course has a length of 2.5 kilometers in total. The coordinates given mark the trailhead. Four stages lead you to the final. All numbers you have to look for can be found directly at the stages. There is no need for measuring, using a search engine on the Internet, or anything like that. For the FTF team, »Banjo HH,« there were $ 1,000 in the geocache container ;-)

The inner Alster lake has an expanse of roughly 18 hectare and forms the smaller, southern part of the body of water. It is fed by outer Alster lake from the north-east. It takes the southern edge via a channel called »Kleine Alster« (small Alster) and passing a catchment lock in order to finally enter the river Elbe. In the center of the inner Alster lake, one can find the privately sponsored »Alsterfontaine,« a 60 meters high water fountain, from 1987 on. Due to the higher supply of oxygen, the quality of the water has risen significantly. Around the water area, many historic business buildings like the Hapag-Lloyd headquarters, the »Vier Jahreszeiten« plush hotel, the »Alsterhaus« department store, or the »Alsterpavillion« café form the skyline. In 2006, the controversial »Europa Passage« shopping mall complemented the architectural ensemble. On the southwest lakeside called »Jungfernstieg« lay the piers for the so-called »White Fleet« of the traditional ferry boats on the Alster lake. From there, they connect as well the channels of the city center as the outer district of Bergedorf. Private vessels (apart from rare exceptions) of all kind are prohibited on the lake. At the end of August, for the first time back in 1976, the »Alstervergnügen,« a popular street festival, takes place around the lake. In 1994, a three-nights-lasting international fireworks contest was added as a new highlight, initiated and hosted by Carlheinz Hollmann until his passing. These events ends in 2018.
