Here is a little history of the cache area.

Michigan has nearly 10 million acers of farmland and looses about 60,000 acers a year. It is predicted that by 2020, 1 million acers of farmland will be at risk of development. Such development could hurt the state in the long run. Farming produces about $60 billion dollars a year for the state and employs nearly 727,000 workers. This area was once a dairy farm that belonged to the Deneweth brothers.

First this area was settled by the Woodland Indians. The first pioneers settled in 1784. They were French traders, 34 families in all. They settled from the Clinton River extending upstream 9 miles.

In 1875 E. Deneweth owned this property which became the Deneweth Brother's Dairy Farm in the late 1880's. Now this land is being sold to developers and someday it will be a strip mall or new houses. How sad.
