One of the Best kept secrets in the Cedar City area. Beautiful hike up a great slot canyon east of Kanarraville. Your feet will get wet and you may be in water just above your knee. Take precautions so you GPS doesn't get wet (dry bag, zip loc, etc.) The trip from Cedar City was about 2 hours including drive time.
Great Hike. I was actually able to get signal in the canyon with my Garmin 60Csx map, but it wasn't great so following directions using the following waypoints may be very necessary. the waypoints may be off, but just follow the canyon.
From Kanarraville turn east at 100 North and drive up past the water tank.
If you have a 4 wheel drive with decent clearance you can park at:
N37'32.217 W113'09.806 a 4wheeler or 4X4 with rock crawling ability can get a bit closer, otherwise you should start hiking here.
N37'32.322 W113'09.220 Slot gets pretty tight at and you will likely lose signal
N37.32.199 W113'09.119 there is a poorly constructed ladder up a waterfall. BE CAREFUL
N37'32.290 W113'08.951 There is a rope ladder up these falls. The ladder is not exactly up to "Code" if it were to be viewed by a building inpsector. Your pants will get wet here, although this is a scary part, it's the river water that will get your pants wet.
Follow the canyon until it opens up just a little. I was able to get a spotty signal at this point. You will go till the canyon opens up just a little bit and you can see the high cliffs ahead of you, that is where the large log which the cache is hidden under. The cache is 15 to 20 feet from the river under a tree (be sure to see new photos for help)
