Peijas Hospital is located in the Vantaa suburb of Asola and it is
the biggest hospital in Vantaa. Peijas hospital is part of the
Helsinki University Central Hospital (HUCH) which is one of the
five hospitals making up the Hospital District of Helsinki and
Uusimaa (HUS). HUCH is mainly serving the citizens of the Helsinki
metropolitan area. The hospital has over 300 beds and over
1100-member staff. The Rekola public healthcare center is also in
the same building.
The hospital building was constructed in
three stages. The first stage was completed in late 80's and the
second stage finished in 1993. The third stage should be completed
during this year.
The civil emergency command center of
the city of Vantaa is located in the hospital basement. The command
center is used to coordinate rescue and evacution works during
severe disasters and civil crisis. There is also a small laboratory
reserved for the food and environmental laboratory of Vantaa.
The Central Uusimaa rescue department
has an ambulance garage in the hospital building.
Peijaksen sairaala sijaitsee Asolassa ja se on Vantaan suurin
sairaala. Sairaala kuuluu Helsingin yliopistolliseen
keskussairaalaan (HYKS), joka yhdessä viiden muun sairaalan kanssa
muodostaa Helsingin ja Uudenmaan sairaanhoitopiirin. HYKS palvelee
pääasiassa pääkaupunkiseudun asukkaita. Sairaalassa on yli 300
potilaspaikkaa ja työntekijöitä on yli 1100. Sairaalan yhteydessä
toimii myös Rekolan terveyskeskus.
Nykyinen sairaala on rakennettu kolmessa
vaiheessa. Ensimmäinen vaihe valmistui 80-luvun lopulla ja toinen
vuonna 1993. Viimeisin laajennus valmistunee kuluvan vuoden
aikana.
Sairaalan kellarissa sijaitsee Vantaan
kaupungin johtokeskus, josta koordinoidaan pelastus- ja
evakuointitoimia kriisitilanteissa. Johtokeskuksen yhteydessä on
myös pienet laboratoriotilat varattuna Vantaan elintarvike- ja
ympäristölaboratorion kriisikäyttöön.
Sairaalan tiloissa toimii lisäksi
Keski-Uudenmaan pelastuslaitoksen ambulanssitalli, johon
hoitoyksiköt tukeutuvat.
