The highest peak of the western portion of the Santa Rosa's, Murray Hill dominates the Palm Springs and Cathedral City southern vistas.
To reach the top, there is only one trail: the Clara Burgess. How you chose to get *to* the Clara Burgess is up to you (I can think of about six routes off the top of my head). You can access the Clara Burgess from the north side of the hill (N33d 46.597 W116d 29.742) or from the west (N33d 45.770 W116d 30.4948).
The north route is a more challenging and steep ascent than the west, but it is a great challenge and lots of fun! Once at the top, enjoy the 360 degrees of view and bring a lunch - there are a couple picnic tables at the top. If you are a geography nut like me, the view from here is wonderful as you can see most of the trails below.
Please note that the Clara Burgess Trail is part of the voluntary BLM closure from Jan 1 - June 30th.
