Geocache Description:

This is the final cache in the Hercules series. Cachers who have completed the preceding twelve labors are rewarded with a cache in a wonderful location (though slightly less strenuous than the other placements), and a cache full of plentiful booty!

Hercules had a great number of additional adventures between his twelve labors and after them, but he did eventually meet his demise due to the deadly venom of a Hydra. After Hercules's death he became the only hero to return as a full-fledged god. By virtue of his heroic accomplishments he was given a home on Mt. Olympus and a goddess for a wife. Finally the trials and tribulations of hero status had come to an end.

After completing all twelve of the hikes / climbs in this series you may also feel like you've accomplished a great feat, and this is true! To complete all twelve labors it is necessary to hike at least 80 miles (mostly off trail) and gain more than 26,000 feet in elevation. Even with the most capable caching vehicle you can't reduce these numbers by much more than 10%, so it will be quite a journey!
Here's a short recap of what the Twelve Labors were all about:
Labor One: Cookes Peak

Labor Two: Baylor Peak

Labor Three: Bishop Cap

Labor Four: Carrizo Peak

Labor Five: Squaw Mountain

Labor Six: Florida Peak

Labor Seven: Robledo Mountain

Labor Eight: North Anthonys Nose

Labor Nine: Anthonys Nose

Labor Ten: Rabbit Ears Plateau

Labor Eleven: Organ Needle

Labor Twelve: Mount Cox

Now onto the cache...

The cache is hidden in a beautiful spot not far from Las Cruces. In each of the Twelve Labors there was a two or three digit code, now is the time you will need those codes. Don't worry, if you can prove you visited a cache and have somehow misplaced the code for a particular cache or two I will be happy to provide the code to you, just send me an email.

Now how to use the codes: Take the codes for all of the odd number caches (1,3,5,7,9,11) and add them all together. This should give you a four digit number (XXXX). Now add that number to four least significant digits in the North part of the coordinates. For example, if XXXX = 1122 you would take 32 22.000 + 1122 which would give you N 32 23.122.

For the even numbered Labors (2,4,6,8,10,12), once again add up all of the codes to get a four digit number (YYYY). Now subtract 1000 from that number (YYYY-1000 = ZZZZ). Once again add ZZZZ to the West part of the coordinates in the same manner as you did for the North part. For example, if YYYY = 3344 you'll first subtract 1000 [ 3344-1000 = 2344 ]. Now you'll add 2344 to the four least significant digits in (W 107 01.000) which would give you W 107 03.344.

This final cache is full of unregistered geocoins and unactivated TB tags. Each finder should take one of each. In addition, I am working up something special for all completers, more info to come! Finally, for the FTF on this cache I will email or mail an REI gift certificate to them to help replace the hiking shoes that have been worn out while pursueing the Twelve Labors. Happy hiking, climbing, and hunting!
