This started as a cooperative - the good news is that people have filled in most of the answers for you. It is based round The Open Championship (correct name, none of that inaccurate rubbish the Americans try to perpetuate with The "British" Open), when it came back to Carnoustie in 2007.
The words part
A = THE LAST OPEN HERE WAS IN
B = HOW MANY IN PLAY-OFF
C = EXTRA HOLES PLAYED
D = OPEN FIRST HELD HERE IN
E = PAR FOR THE COURSE NOW
F = ELDRICK SCORED LAST TIME
G = NUMBER OF YARDS THIS YEAR = 7421
B,C,F refer to year A (prior to 2007); E,G refer to how the course was set up for the 2007 bash.
All of these should be easy to answer from the web. Use the official website, do not use e.g. wikipedia, which is WRONG!!! However, even the official website has an error (see logs below), so I have filled in one answer for you.
The numbers part:
N YY.YY.YYY W ZZ.ZZ.ZZZ
has been correctly guessed now as N 56 29.764 W 02 43.148
The calculation
Now, for the calculations:
For North: YYYYYYY + F + (D*(B+C)) - G*E - 40
For West: ZZZZZZZ + 8 - ((A+D+G-E-B-C)*20)
Good luck!
