Geocache Description:

Located in the North West of the Island of Corfu. The cache is
hidden about 1/2 mile from where you can park.

While finding this cache you will go to a part of Corfu not often visited. Within sight of this cache is the spectacular Byzantine castle of Angelokastro that was built in the 13th century by Michael Angelos, Despot of Epiros, and provided shelter for the local population during many invasions. It protected the local population from slaughter during the Turkish invasion in 1537. It is built on a steep hill about 150 metres above the sea, and it is surrounded by water on three sides while a narrow land bridge provides the only access to the castle from land. The view from the
castle is very picturesque, and the drive to the castle is
beautiful. At the following co-ordinates take the road to Krini: N39 41.234 : E019 41.403 You can park on the bend at N39 40.832 : E019 41.192 After parking take the unsurfaced track through the olive groves to the cache location. The cache is a standard ammo box. Please make sure the cache is well hidden before leaving. Recent visitors are not hiding the cache before leaving.
