A short, but very steep, uphill hike from a public parking area on private property at a popular day use location.
This cache is a micro, not even room for a writing utensil. It is placed as a tribute to a good friend that left us after a tragic accident. There is a memorial to this special lady near the entrance to the property however, the cache is located a little further north and up the hill. The location gives you a nice view of the property and the river. The water activities and tours make this a very popular summer time area, hopefully you will have time to take advantage of a tour or maybe some fishing.
Gates of the Mountains - This 17-mile guided boat tour goes through the spectacular Missouri River Canyon, which was the route of the Lewis and Clark expedition. It was christened the "Gates of the Mountains" for the cliffs that appear to "open and close" passage on the river.
The area can be very hot during the summer but the hike is short. As usual in this part of the world, watch for snakes. If you bring a dog it must be on a leash. There is no overnight use permitted on this property. There are several other caches in the area you may wish to add to your day of caching. This cache is accessible year round.
