This the first of several caches I’ve hidden off the Bellota Ranch Road. I was surprised that there are no caches in this nice area. This one is near a place called ‘The Lake’ on maps of the place.
The A-7 (formerly Bellota Ranch) property was purchased a few years ago by Pima County with funds from the Open Space Bond, approved by citizens to conserve land in the county. The area includes perennial streams, springs, mesquite bosques, cottonwood-willow forests, and several vulnerable species. The ranch, dating back to the 1870’s is classified as a priority historic site.
The Redington and Bellota roads can range from quite good to pretty bad depending on recent weather. A car can usually make Redington road. I’d recommend high clearance for Bellota road, although I did see a Honda Civic make it recently. The cache is a short easy walk off the road.
