Certova slapota / Devil's footprint Mystery Cache

Jakýsi lesní delník se vracel již za tmy z Kolencu do Lužnice. V trudomyslných myšlenkách o svém údelu ho náhle vyrušil panácek - cerný myslivec, který dobre cetl drvoštepovy myšlenky. Kroužil kolem neho a sliboval, že zažene jeho bídu, že si bude žít jak pán... a že mnoho nežádá. Dokonce jenom to, co drevorubec doma má, ale neví o tom. Ubožák, chteje se dábla a bídy zbavit, nakonec souhlasil.

Ale to nemel delat! Nebot doma zjistil, ke své velké hruze, že se jeho žene práve toho vecera narodilo dlouho ocekávané detátko - chlapec! Neštastníkovi zacaly namísto radosti, dny plné zoufalství. Jeho vnitrní hlas, nebot se nikomu s kletbou nemohl sverit, mu radil: "Dej chlapce na kneze! Na Neho budou pekelné mocnosti krátké!"

A tak se i stalo. Drevorubec se drel na chlapcovy studie. Cas bežel a když byl mladík vysvecen ve svých 24-ti na kneze a mel mít první kázání ve slavném Novosedleckém kostele, zdálo se, že cert na daný slib zapomnel, ci že si netroufá prijít.

Avšak cert nespal! Hlásil se o své! Mladý knez certa vyslechl, o jakou kletbu jde. Souhlasil, že se podrídí, ale s podmínkou, až nejdríve doslouží první mši. Ale než ji skoncí, musí cert, je-li tak mocný, donést až ze samotného Ríma žulový kvádr na stavbu božích muk pro kolenecké verící.

Cert souhlasil a zmizel v povetrí. Dostat se do Ríma byla pro neho hracka. Ale s nákladem zpátky do Cech to byla cesta svízelná. O to více, že mladému knezi proti certovi pomáhal sám svatý Petr. Seslal na dábla bouri a krupobití, srazil ho do jednoho z alpských jezer a škodil mu jak mohl. Dokonce na samém konci se pekelník ocitl i v bahne Rožmberka. Ale spechal s balvanem dál a aby nabral sílu k poslednímu skoku, zastavil se u hájovny na kraji lesa, aby se nadechl. A ppráve v tu chvíli koncil mladý knez svou bohoslužbu slovem: "Ite misa est", a poté se rozeznely zvony.

Pekelník, celý zurivý nad tím, že sázku prohrál, vyzdvihl kámen do výše a mrštil jím o zem. Balvan se rozlomil vedví - menší kus kamsi odletel a druhý se zaboril zpuli do zeme. Cert, vzteky bez sebe, na nej vyskocil, pridupl a zmizel v korunách stromu.

Jak byl rozezlený poznáme i dnes, nebot po nem zustaly vyryté dve stopy po kopytech. Zvláštní je, že jedno je konské a druhé kozí.

A wood-cutter returned from Kolence to Lužnice when it was getting dark. He was thinking about his hard life when a guy surprised him - it was a gamekeeper who knew the wood-cutter´s ideas. He went with him and promised him to stop his poverty and to start his new life as a lord ... and he does not want so much to do it - only one thing the wood-cutter has got at home, but he does not know about it. A poor man who wanted to get rid of the devil and poverty agreed in the end.

But he did not do it! When he came home, he found out being terrified that a baby - his son - had been born a day before. He was very unhappy and he had days full of despair instead of happiness. He could not open his heart to anybody and his inner voice advised him: "Your son should become a priest. Infernal beings will not be able to do wrong him."

And so this happened. The wood-cutter worked a lot to be able to pay his son´s studies. The time passed and they admitted his son to holy orders when the boy was 24. He should have had his first preaching in the famous church in Novosedly and it seemed that the devil forgot his promise.

But the devil was not sleeping! He wanted everything! The young priest listened to the devil and the curse. He agreed to subordinate to the devil, but he had one condition - he wanted to finish his first mass and before finishing it the devil had to bring a granite rock for the congregation from Rome if he was so strong.

The devil agreed and disappeared in the air. It was very easy for him to get to Rome. But the journey back to Bohemia was very difficult, because the Saint Peter helped the young priest against him. He sent storms and hails against the devil, he knocked him down into one of Alpine lakes and he harmed him as much as he was able to do. Even in the end the devil found himself in the mud of Rožmberk. But he hurried with the rock further and he stopped at a game-keeper´s lodge at the edge of the forest to breathe and to be more powerful. And at that moment the young priest was finishing his mass with the words "Ite misa est" and then all the bells started ringing.

The devil was furious, because he lost his bet, and so he took up the rock and threw it on the ground. The rock devided into two pieces - the smaller one flew away and the bigger one stayed in the ground. The mad devil jumped on it, stamped and disappeared in the trees.

How much furious he was, we can see even today, because there are two footprints in the rock. There is one thing strange with it, one footprint is a horse hoof, the second one in a goat one.
