Geocache Description:

Coord lock may be difficult. If you come in the warmer months you may run into briars, poison ivy, and the like. NOT recomended if it has recently rained. Please park in the designated parking waypoint. BYOP.

Sometimes you just happen upon things from days gone by in the oddest of places.

While out scouting places for caches to add to the GQ2 route, I literally stumbled across this. Concidering the area, it is very hard to believe no one has removed it as of yet.

In its early days, Kingston Pike was called "Thunder Road" because moonshiner's used to "thunder" down the road, runnin' 'shine. All the while being chased by "the revenuer's". Objects like this were a common site during that era. But that was eons ago.

I went home and asked my Mom if she might be able to shed some light on why it would be here. She said it probably had belonged to one of the Bacon boys as this used to be part of the Bacon farm before it was bought up about 30 years ago by developers.

Still seems very odd that it is still here, don't you think?
