Geocache Description:

On May 1, 2000 U.S. President Bill Clinton declared that "Selective availability" would be turned off on the NAVSTAR GPS, thus allowing the general public to get accurate readings from their GPS receivers. Two days later, Dave Ulmer of Beavercreek, Oregon placed the first documented "gps stash hunt". He posted the co-ordinates on the Usenet newsgroup sci.geo.satellite-nav. Two days later the cache was found and logged by Mike Teague of Vancouver, Washington.

This cache has been inspired by the origins of geocaching.
