Geocache Description:

The Bull Run/Occoquan Trail traverses some of the most beautiful countryside to be found this close to Northern Virginia. The trek to the cache will take you along a portion of the blue-blazed trail and eventually onto a less-traveled path that passes by a long-abandoned farm, now overgrown and reverting back to woodland.

A small parking area is located at N38 43.857 W77 21.263.

This farm is SICK! Once clear farmland is now covered with new-woods growth that I'd estimate has been growing 40-60 years.

There's not much room in the cache container for more than the log. A geocoin or TB with a small attachment should fit. There is a pencil, but please bring along your own writing utensil in case it is broke/missing.

The blue-blazed trail can be accessed from near the end of Wolf Run Shoals Rd. The trail changes elevation quite a bit as it climbs up small ridges and back down to the next stream valley. The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club maintains the blazed trail so you will find it in fairly good shape, but expect a bit of slip-slop in wet weather. Once you leave the blue-blazed trail, you may have to bushwhack around some deadfalls.

Expect to cover over 4 miles round-trip to access the cache from the parking coordinates given. Knowing the ingenuity of cachers you may find easier access, so your mileage may vary.
