Geocache Description:

This reasonably short multi has been designed for the adventurer and is just the ticket for young (at heart) cachers, bored with strolls in the park. A direct route of 1 mile will get you to the cache, but a longer alternative route is available for the less adventurous. Route 'A' is not recommended for very young children.

The footbridge has been re-opened (Apr 2019), though 'route A' is still unavailable (Oct 2016). Please read maintenance log 29/10/2016.

This is the first cache in SidAndBob’s Makin' Tracks series, which will cover the dismantled Forest of Dean and Wye Valley Railways.

Park at the co-ordinates below and walk down to the old railway bridge. Although there is some tree cover it should be pretty obvious where to search. You are looking for a brown 4-digit number to give abcd.
a+b+c+d = 14

The cache is at N51 5b.aa0 W002 3(c+d).bd6. Now choose your route!

I would recommend the direct route there and returning along the riverbank (you may encounter cows) for the best of both worlds.

The adventurous will require boots (preferably wellies) and a good torch. Others may require a map.

Be aware that the river can be particularly treacherous during the wet season. You do not need to go near it to do this cache.

Finally, please be aware that our canine friends may not always be as keen to follow as we are.

If you enjoyed this cache you will most likely enjoy 28 Days Later and Looking for Linda, by the same author.

5th October 2007 : Spoiler added.
