Numerosokeus on yleinen vaiva. Esimerkiksi suurien lukujen hahmottaminen on monille vaikeaa.
Ajatellaan, että sinulla on nettisaitti, jossa käynti maksaa vaivaisen 1 sentin.
Jos saisit houkuteltua jokaisen suomalaisen netin käyttäjän (n. 2,8 miljoonaa) käymään sivullasi yhden kerran, niin sinulla olisi saman tien kasassa 28.000 euroa. Yes!
Entäs jos sisältö olisi niin houkuttelevaa, että jokainen suomalainen nettisurffaaja klikkaisi linkkiäsi kerran viikossa. Saisit miljoona euroa kasaan jo noin 8 kuukaudessa. Vau!
Ei muuta kuin puku päälle, powerpoint kalvot kainaloon ja myymään tämä pääomasijoittajille miljardibusineksenä, eikö niin?. Tosin näin kvarttaalitalouden aikakautena homma ei ehkä menisikään kirkuen kaupaksi, sillä miljardin euron tavoittamiseen tällä tavalla kuluisi aikaa 685 vuotta!.
Myös todennäköisyyksiä on tämän armoitetun lottokansan välillä vaikea hahmottaa.
Ajatellaan vaikka, että mysteerikätkön ratkaisuun pitäisi valita kahdeksan lukua väliltä 0-65535 ja näiden avulla saataisiin laskettua loppukoordinaatit. Eri vaihtoehtoja on aivan käsittämättömän suuri määrä: 2 potenssiin 128. Eli pyöreästi kolmonen ja sen perässä 38 nollaa!. Todennäköisyys, että joku osuisi oikeisiin lukuihin on käytännössä nolla vaikka kaikki planeetan ihmiset yrittäisit arvata lukuja "valon nopeudella" koko ikänsä. Mutta olisiko mysteerin oikean ratkaisun todennäköisyys myös yhtä pieni?
Mysteerin ratkaisu voisi olla kaikkien iloitsema monimutkainen laskentakaava, joka sisältää nuo kahdeksan lukua. Mutta totuus on kuitenkin se, että pakasterasian löytöön tarvitaan vain 15 oikeaa numeroa oikeaan järjestykseen. Ja hyvin usein mysteerin loppukoordinaattien eniten merkitsevät seitsemän numeroa annetaan jo kätkösivulla, niinkuin tässäkin. Niinpä sinun tarvitsee vain keksiä 8 numeroa (numero = 0-9) ja saada ne oikeaan järjestykseen.
Esimerkiksi jos kätkön loppukoordinaatit saisi ottamalla aina yhden numeron kustakin noista yllä mainituista valitsemistasi kahdeksasta luvusta (olkoon ne vaikka A,B,C,D,E,F,G ja H) ja sijoittamalla valitut numerot tähän:

niin oikeaan osumisen mahdollisuus olisikin jo yksi 100 miljoonasta. Lotossa 7-oikein rivin vaihtoehtoja on 15 miljoonaa, joten tuohan on sentään jo kohtuullisen todennäköistä. Niin että eiköhän tämäkin kätkö joskus löydy.
Eli ei muuta kuin "valitsemaan" nuo 8 lukua ja niistä numerot ja yllättäen kätkö saattakin jo olla hyppysissäsi kaikkia todennäköisyyksiä uhmaten!
Ja numerosokeuden välttämisen viimeinen ohje on: Ensin pitää tietää mihin katsoa ennenkuin voi nähdä.
Ai niin, minun ensimmäinen arvaukseni numeroiksi oli 2. 3. 4. 5. 3. 4. 1. 4. Tuolla ei tullut lottovoittoa, mutta se saattaa silti helpottaa oikeisiin numeroihin osumista ;-).
Ja jos näin lopuksi tuntuu siltä, että et ymmärtänyt mitään, niin kertaus on opintojen äiti, eli paina tästä ja aloita alusta.

- Listatuista koordinaateista ei löydy mitään vinkkiä
- Mysteeri D4,5. Kätkö D2
- Kätkön talvilöydettävyys on kohtuullisen hyvä. Jos lunta/jäätä on paljon, niin ota mukaan väline, jolla voit irroittaa mahdollisesti kiinni jäätyneen näkösuojan
- Kätköltä avautuu varsin kelpo maisema. Käymisen arvoinen piste on myös kätköltä suuntaan N +.051 E +0.530

Number blindness is a very common problem. For example figuring out the scale of big numbers is hard for many.
Let's assume that you have a web site where each visit costs 1 cent.
If you could persuade each finnish web user (2.8 million) to visit your page once, you would immediately be a proud owner of 28.000 Euros. Way to go, Dude!.
What if the content would be so good that each finnish web surfer would click your link once a week? You would get one million euros in about 8 months. Wow!
Let's bring on the business suits and throw in some powerpoint slides - we could sell this to the capital investors as a great billion-cracking-business!. Right?. Although I doubt that it would be a big success in this quartal economy time, since it would take 685 years to reach one billion !
It is also very difficult for this Lotto-minded folk to comprehend probabilities.
Let's think for example, that to solve a mystery cache you would need to pick eight numbers between 0-65535 and the final coordinates would be calculated from these numbers. The amount of possible combinations is just staggering: 2^128. That's roughly a three followed by 38 zeroes!. The probability that someone would guess the right numbers is practically zero even if all the people in this planet would be guessing numbers "at the speed of light" during all their lives. But would the probability for getting the right solution for the mystery be equally small?.
The Mystery solution could be a "nice" complicated calculation with all the eight numbers involved. But the fact is that in order to find the freeze-box you only need 15 digits in the right order. And very often the first seven digits are already given in the cache page, so you need only eight digits (digit = 0-9).
If, for example the final coordinates for a cache would come by taking one digit from each of the eight numbers that you choosed (let them be A,B,C,D,E,F,G and H) and by placing the digits to this:

then the possibility to get them right would be only 1 in 100 million. That's not so bad considering that the probability for getting all 7-right in finnish Lottery is 1 in 15 million. So I figure that this cache will eventually be found, right?
So just go and "pick" the numbers and the digits from them and suprisingly you might have the cache in your hands in no time agains all the odds!
And the last instruction for avoiding number blindness is: First you have to know where to look to, in order to see.
By the way. My first quess for the digits was 2. 3. 4. 5. 3. 4. 1. 4. They did not bring the jackpot but might very well make it easier for you to hit the right digits ;-).

- You should be able to find the cache during wintertime also. If there is a lot of snow/ice then take some tool with you. The cover of the cache might be frozen.
