Blue star - Honoring Those Who Serve Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

scorpio1537: Recently Kar and I accepted a new permanent job in the state of Missouri. I sent out adoption requests to a local cacher however it has become apparent that they are not in a position to maintain the caches for the enjoyment of others. I regrettably must archive them. The containers are in location and the caching community is free to keep them or reestablish the caches in their own name. Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Happy Caching and look us up if your ever in Missouri! Scorpio1537 & Kar

Geocache Description:

A Blue Star Service Banner displayed in the window of a home is an American tradition. The banner lets others know that someone in the home is proudly serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. As Americans do their best to support Operation Iraqi Freedom and the ongoing war on terror, the Blue Star Service Banner tradition reminds us all that war touches every neighborhood in our land.

After World War II, an American movement was started to pay tribute to the nation's armed forces, by designating various state and national routes as Blue Star Memorial Highways. In 1945, the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. approved the Blue Star Memorial Highway Marker program. The Blue Star name comes from the blue star in the service flag. The blue star was chosen to symbolize the memorial because it was used during World War II on flags and homes of families that had a son or daughter in the armed forces.

Please be careful as you search that you do not destroy the plants.
