This will be an adventurous hike to a gorgeous and rugged place in Polk County. If you like the "Bradley Bottoms" cache, then this is for you.
You will get to this cache by taking the Upward Rd exit and going to Big Hungry rd on your right. Stay on Big Hungry, watch the road signs. Parking is best at N 35 17.463 W 082 19.721 . Cross the footbridge and follow Pulliam Creek Trail for 1.2 miles to waypoint at N 35 16.675 W 082 20.411 . This is about a 45 minute downhill hike along the creek so far. At this waypoint you will hear the Green river roaring below you to the right. Look for a path to the right that has ropes tied to trees. This is a very steep trail that will take about 30 minutes to descend. Some of it will be sliding on your butt. Once you reach the bottom, continue up river, sometimes on the rocks, sometimes following a trail on the bank. This gorge is quite steep and gps bounces a fair amount. I took numerous marks and feel this is quite reliable. Bring the clue, just in case. You will want to bring a camera, at least one bottle of water, and maybe a snack. Keep an eye out for kayaks. This is a very hot spot for whitewater kayakers with class V+ rapids. We took 3 hours to go down and back today. We hung out and enjoyed the scenery, had a snack and watched a kayaker. This trail is possible with children. My daughter is 11 and we first did this trail when she was 8. The container is a plastic ammo can . Enjoy the hike!
