Peters Serpentine Vista

Welcome to Serpentine Falls National Park in Western Australia. Much of this park is very unexplored by most people, but not my brother Peter. He Calls this park “His back yard” and he and his Family have been to and seen almost every track and feature of this park. I asked him to show me one of his favorite places that had a great view of city of Perth and was no more than 1 hour walk from the main car park.

TIP: Don’t try to go the shortest way to the Cache follow my rough route map explained in the next paragraphs. If you wish to avoid paying the fee to enter the Park then you must park well outside the park area.either park near the garage and walk in or some other place closer to the gate that is off the road.its free but may not be as secure and you dont get to enjoy the gas BBQ's afterwards. I last heard that it was $9 per car to enter the park,That sounds like a cheap place to rest and eat considering the price of fuel. But its up to you to decide what you want to do. Start at the Rangers Hut (he took your entrance money) S 32º.22.151 E 116º.00.299

Walk up the gravel track gravel track (bearing 150 deg) heading parallel to the carpark on your left.p> After about 500metres turn right onto the next track. The coordinates S 32º.22.943 E 116º.00.563 are for the next right turn point there is a sign that has BB on it. From here on you can find your own way but on the way there you will see a great view of the Serpentine Falls and a very nice place to sit and picnic.

The final destination is on the other side of a low wire fence and to the right of the main outcrop. I would suggest studying the photos for the correct place.

The views are awesome. You can see the city very clearly and that’s about 50km away and of course the coastal plain too with Rockingham and the industrial smoke stacks of Cockburn to the west.

After your walk why not enjoy a picnic in the main Carpark area. There are good facilities and gas BBQ’s and I have been told the kangaroos keep the lawn mowed… For the visitor and Tourist Kangaroos are plentiful to the extreme.

Remember the rules and enjoy the Park …its for all of us.
