Head for Heversham, which is an old and historic village just off the A6 between Milnthorpe and Levens. The A6 sweeps around the village - apparently one of the first ever by-passes. Parking is available at several start points, but a good place is just south of the church (SD 496 833).
Footpaths crisscross the lower slopes, and there are several kissing gates providing general access to the upper zone. A millennium bench and topograph are not far from the cache, plus a trig point adorns the summit. The whole area is lovely short-cropped grass, covering limestone, so it's generally great walking and dry underfoot. The area has open access and generations of Heversham villagers and pupils at the school have climbed to the top to enjoy the view.
A pleasant route for a circular walk is:
From the church, take the road east towards Woodhouse. About 350m along here is a permissive path which heads SE across the fields to the old railway. Turn NE following the old track for 500m to the school rugby pitches. Take the footpath heading north towards Greenside and the east end of the wood. High up to the left is an obvious gate in the wall. Head to this, then follow the ridge to the trig point. New caches along the railway now.
After finding the cache, head SW down to an obvious kissing gate. Bear left round a fenced bit of woodland to pick up the lovely footpath that heads down, past the old grammar school, to the church. Go through the churchyard and back to the road. Take time to investigate the historic buildings in the village.

A shorter wander can be done from the back lane, two other parking spots for a car or two. Either come via the footpath into the field, or up through the wood and then out onto the summit. See parking waypoints for starts. Can do a nice short circular via the newer cache.
