Geocache Description:

The first place to go to learn about Philadelphia and the Delaware Valley

This cache is located on the site of some notable residents of Philadelphia including Dr. Caspar Wistar, the renowned anatomist and intellectual; Robert Morris, signer of the Declaration of Independence; Philip Marin Freneau, poet of the Revolution and friend of Benjamin Franklin; and Haym Saloman, financier of the Revolution.

The cache is housed in the Independence Visitors Center, built to welcome the world to Philadelphia. This 50,000-square-foot facility is the welcome center for Independence National Historical Park. Here you can get information about the Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties in Pennsylvania, as well as the Southern New Jersey and Delaware River waterfronts.

Hours: Daily, 8:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The log book is kept behind the desk inside of the building. You will have to ask an employee at the desk if they know where the log book is kept. Not everyone at the center knows where the geocaching log book is kept, so as a little twist to make this cache easier for fellow cachers there will be two ways to be credited with a find here...

1) Find someone who knows where the log book is and sign the log book
OR
2) Take a picture of you with one of the employees at the building and post it

(please specify in your log which option you have completed)

Good luck and happy caching!
