Geocache Description:

Medininkai Gate was built around 1514. There were nine gates in the stone defence wall surrounding Vilnius, Medininkai is the only gate remaining these days. It was built on the most important trade routes in the southern part of the town leading from Vilnius to Medininkai Castle, to Minsk, Smolensk, Moscow.

Carmelites constructed a chapel in the gate back in 1671. An icon of The Blessed Virgin Mary Mother of Mercy is kept in the chapel and the gate has become a place or pilgrimage for catholics. The gate is often called Ausros Vartai (The Gate of Dawn).

The cache is a 35mm film canister containing a log, a couple of pencils, initially loaded with some coin swag. Lots of muggles, but shouldn't be too hard to locate it. BYOP recommended.
