Geocache Description:

Located in beautiful Wharton State Forest in Tabernacle, NJ.

NOTE: This is a revamped version of a cache that was placed in this area on 2/26/05. Although the cache bears the same name as the previous cache, the container and the location and type of hide have been changed.

You can drive within 200 feet of this Wharton cache. You must drive past the Carranza Memorial, until you reach the end of the paved road. Then it's just a short two-mile drive on the hard packed sand road. There are posted coordinates for the next road that you will need to take to get to the cache (which can also be a trailhead if you park at this location and hike the rest of the way).I have been on this road in several 2WD vehicles and have never had a problem. However, you should know the limits of your own vehicle and use your own judgment when deciding how to approach this cache. Even if you park right on Carranza Road, you will only need to hike approximately 1/10 of a mile to the cache location. You are looking for a small camoed specimen jar (i.e. unused urine collection cup) with room for small trade items.

Once you are at the cache location you are sure to enjoy the view. This beautiful lake is hidden between Carranza Road, Sandy Ridge Road, Hawkins Lowland Road, and East Sandy Ridge Road. If you continue down Carranza Road from where you turned onto the other road, you will reach Hawkins Bridge after just one more mile. There are many great caches in this area!
