Geocache Description:

This is part of a series of 6 caches placed by The West Viewers and Horrid Henry along the Moel Famau Numeracy Trail indicated by the 123 markers.

By seeking this or any other cache placed by myself or maintained by me you accept responsibility for your own safety. Caching can be dangerous. Assess the risk for yourself before seeking this cache!

This trail is an often overlooked path as people head straight up to the top so it can be a really peaceful place to walk and ideal for finding caches away from the main muggle trails. The kids can have fun playing with the puzzles along the way. There is pushchair access to the main track on caches 1 - 4 however the caches themselves are slightly off track and so would not be fully accessible.

Recommended car parking at Coed Moel Famau (closes at 6pm in the winter); cost - £1 for the day. There are several other caches in the area including our 3 bear caches which could be completed at the same time. There are toilet facilities here as well as a food/drink van most weekends. Alternative free parking is available in the area.

If walking from Mushroom Path 5 following the numeracy trail to N53.08.448, W003.14.693 where you need to take the right-hand path which zig zags down the hill. The original puzzle involved counting steps near MP 5 and the # of stumps that you pass on the way to the cache location. If you have time try counting the rings to see how old the trees were otherwise pass them by to the cache location.

The cache itself is a small lock and lock box hidden in a camo bag.

Thanks to David Liddy, Forestry Commission Area Manager, for kind permission to place this cache. On occasion there may be the need to temporarily suspend the caches when Forestry Commission work is being undertaken. Please check back to this page prior to visiting the cache to check it is still active and always avoid areas where any machinery / work is being undertaken.

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU SIGN THE LOGBOOK WHEN YOU FIND THIS CACHE. WE WILL DELETE ANY LOGS WHERE THIS REQUIREMENT HAS NOT BEEN MET AS IT IS THE PROOF THAT YOU HAVE FOUND IT.
