Geocache Description:

The innkeeper lost Gandalf's note but now it has been found.

This new cache replaces "A Note from Gandalf" which was lost to muggles in December 2006. The new hunt will take you out west of town to an area where there are many caches within a short bike ride, drive, or even walking on foot as they used to do in the old days in the Shire.

The location posted above is not correct, but the note below will tell you exactly where to find the cache.

You will know you are at the right place when you see the huge oak tree.

The letter to Frodo, delivered at the Inn of the Prancing Pony and dated Midyear's Day, Shire Year 1418:

"Dear Frodo…bad news has reached me here.
I must go at once. You had better leave………Bag End soon.
Get out of…..the Shire before the end of July at latest.
I will return as soon as I…can.
I will follow you if I find…..that you are gone.
Leave a…message for me here, if you pass through Bree.
You can..trust the landlord Mr. Butterbur.
You may meet a friend of mine on the road.
He is a man, lean, dark, and tall……..called Strider.
He knows…our buisness.
He will…help you on this journey.
Make for Rivendell as quickly as……you can.
There I hope…we may meet again.
If I do not come Elrond will….advise you.
Yours in haste Gandalf. PS. Do……not use the ring."
