Wenn wir uns auf die Suche nach den frühesten Wurzeln des modernen Sindelfingen machen, so müssen wir in der Geschichte weit hinter die mittelalterliche Stadtgründung zurück bis zur Jungsteinzeit gehen. Aus dieser Zeit stammen die ersten, wenn auch noch recht spärlichen Spuren menschlicher Besiedlung. (P.S. hab die Finalkoordinaten-Berechnung geändert, weil ich bei der letzten Stage falsch gezählt hatte. Jetzt stimmt es !)

Klostersee
Der Name stammt zwar vom benachbarten Kloster, der See hat aber nie zu dessen Besitzungen gehört. Vielmehr handelt es sich um einen bereits im Mittelalter angelegten Mühlensee.

Martinskirche
Das älteste und historisch zweifellos bedeutendste Gebäude Sindelfingens ist die Martinskirche. Der Baubeginn der dreischiffigen romanischen Pfeilerbasilika ist etwa um das Jahr 1050 anzusetzen, fertiggestellt wurde sie 1133.

Schaffhauser Platz/ Stadtmauer
Bis zur Zerstörung im letzten Krieg stand auf dem jetzigen Schaffhauser Platz ein stattliches Gebäudeensemble. Den nördlichen Abschluss des Platzes bildet das größte heute noch erhaltene Stück der ehemaligen Stadtmauer, die nach der Stadtgründung gebaut wurde und in diesem Bereich die Stadt vom bereits vorher bestehenden nördlich gelegenen Stiftsbezirk abgrenzte.

Hier brummt das Leben. An einem schönen Nachmittag sind hier viele Cafes und Kneipen geöffnet. Hier kannst Du einkehren und Dir gemütlich einen Cappucino gönnen. Suche den Brunnen.

Kurz vorher kommt das erste Sindelfinger Kaffeehaus. Die "Latte Macciato mit Baileys" ist sehr zu empfehlen :-)

Marktplatz 2
Mit dem Bau des mittleren Rathauses begann sich der westlich davon gelegene damalige Viehmarktplatz allmählich zum allgemeinen Marktplatz und zum Mittelpunkt der wachsenden Stadt zu entwickeln. Heute herrscht neben zahlreichen anderen Veranstaltungen auf dem verkehrsberuhigten Platz jeden Dienstag, Donnerstag und Samstag buntes Wochenmarkttreiben. Im oberen Teil des Marktplatzes befindet sich der von Bonifatius Stirnberg mit beweglichen Figuren gestaltete Freundschaftsbrunnen.

Alter Friedhof
Eine Oase der Ruhe inmitten des Stadtzentrums ist der seit 1825 angelegte Alte Friedhof hinter der Stadtbibliothek. Sehenswert ist auch die 1911 erbaute Friedhofskapelle, die zahlreiche historisierende Elemente aus Klassizismus und Barock, aber auch Anklänge an den Jugendstil aufweist.

Stadthalle
Die Stadthalle wurde am 26.10.1963 eröffnet! Sie liegt in schönem Ambiente ist Schauplatz der verschiedensten Events.
Sie ist umgeben von einer kleinen Park-Anlage mit einem roten Kunstwerk. Apropos: Meine Frau stellt im März im Foyer der Stadthalle ihre tollen Bilder aus ! Schaut doch mal rein !

Klostersee
The name comes from the neighbouring monastery, which lake has however never belonged to its possessions. Rather it already concerns one in the Middle Ages mill lake put on.
