Geocache Description:

The cache lies along the walking track from the bay. Suitable for young children if well supervised. It can be accessed on foot from Ku-ring-gai Chase NP, or directly by boat. You might even like to hire a boat from Cottage Point cafe !

Z Special Unit, often known as 'Z Force', was a joint Australian, British and New Zealand commando unit which saw action against the Empire of Japan during World War II. Z Special Unit carried out 284 covert operations in the Pacific. The most publicised of these were the successful canoe raid on Singapore Harbour from the Krait. During this raid, 6 men left the Krait - which incidently now lies in the Sydney Maritime Museum - paddled for 50km, camped in a cave on a small island near Singapore Harbour for 2 days, and then proceeded to attach mines to Japanese naval ships, destroying 4 ships ammounting to over 40000 tonnes.

In 1942, several training schools were established in various locations across Australia, the most notable being Camp Z in Refuge Bay, an offshoot of Broken Bay to the north of Sydney. A plaque on the beach commerates the brave actions of these soldiers.

To find the coordinates for the cache, you will need to visit the plaque at WP1.
For the South coord., subtract the date (day only) that the attack occured from S33 36.224 (ie 224 - ??)
For the East coord., add the year of the attack (using only the last 2 digits of the year) to E151 15.001 (ie 001 + ??)

The cache is a small lunchbox with the usual goodies inside.
