Geocache Description:

An unusual Sudoku-like puzzle to solve to determine the coordinates of the geocache. I wish to acknowledge the creativity of Steve Schaeffer at Mathematical Recreations as the brains behind this type of puzzle. The cache is a 1l camoed screw top.

This puzzle is composed of 3x3 boxes, just like the classic Sudoku, but there are only 6 of them, and they are arranged so that each row of the outlying boxes completes the columns of the centre 4 boxes, and each column of these corner boxes completes the rows in the central configuration.

The challenge: Place each of the digits 1 to 9 exactly once in each row/column and 3x3 box. Be sure to follow the rows/columns as they bend. This puzzle is not easy, and may be very addictive!

The numbers in the squares labeled A, B, C, D, E and F correspond to the missing numbers in the cache coordinates. S 45 49.ABC E 170 30.DEF
